Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company Work Experience Opportunity

Research & Development Week

As part of Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company’s current activity, we are conducting some research and development (R&D) around our human connection with the sea and the stories it can tell us. The intention is to use this as the basis to develop a touring theatre production at some point in the future.

We will spend a week working online (on Zoom) to explore this topic, working towards creating a short audio recording of our findings.

As part of this week we have the opportunity to provide a number of work experience opportunities for individuals not currently working in the industry but would like to be. If you are interested in one of these specific roles, we would like to hear from you:

  • Performer
  • Director
  • Writer

This opportunity is for anyone aged 18+ who is a 2020 graduate And/Or is NOT currently working within the performing arts industry but would like to be.

Community Responses to The Sea

As part of Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company’s current activity, we are conducting some research and development (R&D) around our human connection with the sea and the stories it can tell us. The intention is to use this as the basis to develop a touring theatre production at some point in the future.

We want to include some verbatim text in our explorations and also in a short piece of audio theatre that we will produce as part of R&D. Below is a Permission Agreement which includes further information – please read this and if you are happy to proceed, return a signed copy to us.

If you would like to take part, please send your responses to the below questions as an audio or video recording, along with your permission agreement by Friday 4th September. You can talk for as long or as short as you like. The recording does not need to be high quality, as long as we can hear your voice clearly.

In line with GDPR, no part of the audio or video recording itself will be used or shared with anybody and once we have transcribed your words and finished our R&D we will delete the files. Your name will only be kept for record when transcribing and then given an anonymous code.

1. When you think of the sea, what images or thoughts are first conjured up?

2. What is your earliest or strongest memory of the sea?

3. Tell us about something the sea has given you, or something it has taken away.

If you are interested, we very much look forward to hearing from you soon.
